BOMARC (BOEING MICHIGAN AERONAUTICAL RESEARCH CENTER) THE 26TH MISSILE SQUADRON HAD A BOMARC MISSILE SITE LOCATED AT OTIS AIR FORCE BASE MASSACHUSETTS.  THE BOMARC WAS A SURFACE-LAUNCHED PILOTLESS INTERCEPTOR MISSILE DESIGNED TO DESTROY ENEMY AIRCRAFT.  IT WAS GUIDED FROM THE GROUND UNTIL NEAR ITS TARGET WHEN AN INTERNAL TARGET SEEKER TOOK OVER.  SOME BOMARC MISSILES WERE ARMED WITH NUCLEAR WARHEADS.
